BECOME A MENTOR
Become a Mentor
Mentors play a vital role in helping justice impacted adults build stability, confidence, and pathways to employment. Through the Uhuru Trades & Workforce Mentorship Program, mentors walk alongside participants as they work toward long term economic independence and personal growth. Mentoring at Uhuru is relational and supportive, focused on encouragement, accountability, and workforce readiness.
What Mentors Do
Mentors support participants through one-on-one or small-group engagement focused on:
• Career exploration and goal setting
• Job readiness and workplace expectations
• Resume review and interview preparation
• Entrepreneurship and income development
• Financial stability and planning
Mentors do not provide clinical, legal, or case management services. All mentoring is coordinated by Uhuru staff to ensure clear expectations and healthy boundaries.
Who Should Apply
We welcome mentors who are:
• 21 years of age or older
• Committed to consistency and encouragement
• Willing to support workforce and life-skills development
Prior mentoring experience is helpful but not required.
